Cabela's

Marketing Manager
What is Cabela's
Dick and Mary Cabela, with Dick’s brother Jim, started Cabela’s in small-town Nebraska with the dream of offering high-quality outdoor products to fellow enthusiasts. From that dream, the organization grew to become the largest mail-order, retail and internet outdoor outfitter in the world.

In 2017, Cabela’s was purchased by Johnny Morris, CEO of Bass Pro Shops. This merger created a powerhouse in the outdoor industry, combining the best brands with pro-staffers in every sector of the outdoor market.
My Contributions
As a marketing manager, my contributions were directly influential on the Boise, Idaho market. I was responsible for engaging the community, media outreach, vendor relations, and supporting nonprofit organizations.

Through Cabela’s, I was able to connect with organizations like the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Hunt of a Lifetime, and so many more.

Below is only a small sample from the many exhibitions, events, and opportunities I was able to participate in and promote.
Public Relations
A large portion of my activities focused on promoting Cabela’s through media outreach. Outreach was targeted around various events or activities, but also included other promotions, holidays, or seasonal activities.

Below is a sample of coverage achieved through media outreach.
Events and Promotions
In an effort to bring customers into the store, a major portion of my responsibilities included promotions and hosting events to demonstrate product usage or increase education.

These promotions were supported through custom email campaigns, local event calendars, and media outreach. Below are samples of the activities for the events.
Trade Shows, Expositions, and Community Events
Marketing promotions were not limited to activities within the store, but also included trade shows, expositions, and other community events that paired with other industry companies and organizations.

For these activities, I was in charge of all aspects, including logistics, giveaways, staffing, and some type of promotions to facilitate a trackable ROI from the event. Below is a sample of some of the activities I managed.
